About Facilitator

Michael Cafiero is an ecological landscape designer passionate about connecting people, plants, and place. Confronting a rapidly changing planet, he designs for climate adaptation and ecosystem diversity, fully embracing the complexity of the living world.

Objective

Get to know your tree neighbors, with your human (and more than human) neighbors. We’ll be checking in on our neighborhood street trees with a stroll up Nostrand Avenue to identify the trees that provide shade, ecologies, and homes for species of all kinds. We’ll be learning how to identify and care for trees, sharing stories of their cultural histories, and discussing our shared future with them in a time of unprecedented global ecosystems change. This will be a follow-up to our previous walk as we mark the changes since April. New participants are, of course, welcome! Get a preview of our trees by checking out the NYC Tree Map.
