About Facilitator

alma (they/them) is a trans herbalist, landworker and poet who is from northern New Mexico. They have resided in NYC going on 9 years and are forever committed to making connections between land being, surviving and dreaming. Their practice emerges from Audre Lorde’s question, “What words do we not have yet?,” and Natalie Diaz’s assertion that “the answer is Palestine.” They are committed to thinking and making work as survival.

Objective

During the week of this summer solstice, consider the coming season & dream of what is to come: what will it smell like? What will the air look like? Consider things not in front of you, or things you don’t see everyday: what is the unusual that is coming? How will the season carry you?

In this workshop we will be working with water, sun, moon, plants, place & embodiment. We will be directly working with flower essences & herbal honey infusions & learn how to make them for ourselves.

Consider how you can bring ritual into your life, especially at this time of emotional upheaval & change. Take stock of where you are & notice the little things that are around you. Come with a special offering for the altar & plant that you wanna work with more this coming season.  We will allow ourselves to take time to sit and ponder what our intentions for being in community are.

What helps you care for yourself & your community?

You will leave with new poems, the skills to make honey infusions & flower essences, & space to sit with yourself more intentionally .

Each session will end with a poem and a writing prompt for reflection.
