About the Facilitator

Herban Cura offers knowledge shares, immersions, & herbal remedies we believe are fundamental to building & supporting our collective resilience. We are an open-source, radical movement towards societal regeneration. We know that by simply coming together to move, breathe, share, make medicine, and create, we are planting the alternatives to uproot the systems that oppress us all.

Kl Mays (he/they) is a memory keeper based in nyc who seeks to repair our relationships to this hypersettled land on which we’ve experienced both bondage and freedom, greeting the spirits who peer out from the cracks in the concrete. They are a descendant of enslaved Africans in the amerikan south and caribbean, Black Seminole resistors, self-liberated swampland maroons, and Ugahxpa people who was raised in ceremony, in a community and legacy of resistance. He draws their knowledge of territory from both ecosystem and archives –  diving deep into the realm of traditional research, then pulling out to ask elements, ancestors, and more-than-human kin which stories are ready to be shared.

Alma Valdez-Garcia (they/them) is a trans herbalist, landworker and poet who is from northern New Mexico. They have resided in NYC going on 9 years and are forever committed to making connections between land being, surviving and dreaming. Their practice emerges from Audre Lorde’s question, “What words do we not have yet?,” and Natalie Diaz’s assertion that “the answer is Palestine.” They are committed to thinking and making work as survival.
