Michael Cafiero is an ecological landscape designer passionate about connecting people, plants, place and soil. He designs ecologically diverse and climate-adaptive landscapes that work with plants to enliven human experiences, create habitat, and build soil.

Objective

Who are our tree neighbors, and how do we care for them in our harsh urban environments?

We’ll stroll down President Street to identify the trees that provide shade, beauty, and habitat for species of all kinds. Through observational writing and sketching, we’ll sharpen our attention to detail while learning about our shared past and future with our urban forest at a time of unprecedented ecological change. Together, we’ll evaluate each tree’s individual needs and collectively develop a plan of action to help preserve them for generations to come.
