Puppeting Towards Preservation: A Political Puppet Workshop

About Facilitator

Fae is an interdisciplinary artist creating at the intersection of queerness, liberation, and futurity. They draw hope and inspiration from outsider artists, resistance movements, and DIY performance lineages. When not making art, Fae is a careworker for people with disabilities and organizes with their local mutual aid group.

Objective

This workshop will explore how to use large-scale puppetry and storytelling as a mode of creative problem-solving. Drawing on techniques from political puppetry lineages, the workshop will be divided into three parts: story creation, sound and puppet building, and performance. The spirit of this workshop is intended to be playful, horizontal, and temporary. The hope is that participants leave feeling more comfortable with artistic collaboration and emboldened to use play as a political tool.

What To Bring

Disclaimer
