About Facilitators
We all share our experience of Earth, yet we inherently perceive it differently. SAW.EARTH is directed by Drew Seskunas, an architect and designer who aims to unify our different experiences through a sense of wonder and joy. Highlighting the essential elements and systems that combine to give our world meaning, the work of SAW.EARTH fosters universal connections between inhabitants of Planet Earth.
Objective
In this workshop, we will collectively build a solar-powered robot. Beginning with discussions of mechanical systems in nature, such as bird wings and fish mouths, we will use the natural curvature of tree branches to create unique mechanical linkages. Weather-permitting, participants will learn how to use solar panels to drive simple motors and collect photons that have traveled millions of miles to power robotic movement.
