About Facilitators

SYANIDE is a DJ, producer, and sound artist from NJ based in Brooklyn, NY. The SYANIDE project is rooted in an on-going monadic seeking of intuitive ancestral technologies revealed through improvisation. They’ve been commissioned by Issue Project Room for their online “Womens Work’ series, and was invited as a featured panelist for the first annual Dweller Festival discussion “Who Does Techno Belong To” Most recently they’ve made their international live performance debut with Switzerland’s Le Bains Festival, where their improvisation workshop “Trans Molecularization, Using the Auto-Physio-Psychic method to Sound Building” was hosted at L’a-t-e-l-i-e-r.

Objective

This workshop is an earth material based improvisation exploration. Using Sun Ra’s Trans Molecularization theory of sound travel and Yusaf Lateefs method of Auto-Physio-Psychic sound creation, participants will develop their physical experience of sound through communal building of African drum inspired instruments, and, as they are often called, “Jam Sessions”.

This will take place over 2 sessions or gatherings – the first session is for instrument building and the second workshop is for finalizing and a public jam. We will initially highlight those with instruments, then open our jam session to the public. This workshop is exclusively for POC. Allies are welcome to support by providing material (water, blankets, etc) The public jam will be open to all.
