About Facilitator
P.L.A.N.T., an ad hoc greening group on Lincoln Place between Nostrand and New York Avenues in Crown Heights. The group, whose name stands for “preserving Lincoln’s abundant natural treasures,” has received multiple recognitions for their beautifying work including first place in Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Greenest Block in Brooklyn competition in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
Objective
Brooklyn may not be New York City’s greenest borough, but it does have some of its greenest blocks. Join P.L.A.N.T.’s Perri Edward, Althea Joseph and Ariel Lauren Wilson as they share strategies for greening the block and building networks of support for street ecologies. They’ll teach participants about street tree care, and elaborate on the theme of their greening efforts this year: pollinators.
Bring your gardening gloves and put your learnings into action! We’ll end the workshop by painting signs that will be used in neighborhood tree wells and garden beds.
